Poem: X

(For National Poetry Month I am writing a stream-of-conscious poem per day. Each poem is  a spontaneous poem single edit – could get messy!  Here is Poem #27.)

my dad is quite crazy
he really is insane
always singing song lyrics
it is hurting on my brain!

starting with AC/DC
then it’s off to April Wine
and then some random Billy
he just does it all the time

if he really knew the words
and could actually sing a tune
maybe I could withstand it
without feeling like a loon

he gets no satisfaction
when he’s working overtime
I am the judge and the jury
he is guilty of the crime!

then the cats in the cradle
wearing boogie-woogie shoes
channeling Katy Perry
he just doesn’t have her moves

where is the sound of silence?
time for me to misbehave
throw some dust into the wind
that is just the way it is!

these boots are made for walking
heading out to the highway
this is all i am saying:
time i just did it my way!
