Poem: Wound and UnWound

slice smooth as cold ice
nice sharp lines drawn –
edges crisply bright as dawn
bleeding past the horizon.

it hurts more than
you might imagine.

why do you look away
from this gift you give to me?

tenderly rendered,
expertly delivered,
perfectly intended.

exorcised of my demons:
i will no longer offend you.
relieved of my willful imperfection:
i no longer entertain you.

and best of all;
you left no scar.
no visible mark.
only pure absolution.

i have been perfected
sculpted by your words
to be what you desire
to be your vision of me.

i both wondrous and hollow
echoing you inside and out
so that when we made love
you became your own lover

and i ceased to bleed…
