Poem: February Eighteenth

blank white pristine void
of winter outside
no inspiration inside
two frozen wastelands
wanting to unthaw and be
something more
something warm
something alive

I write these words
to fill space and time
and obligation to write
honestly the words
that flow and sputter

it is hard to pour
out a heart
when one’s heart
is an empty shell.

Shall we have a conversation?
