Poem: February Twenty-second

half-awake and half-aware
partially sleeping in my chair;
slipping backwards into time;
sipping scotch and feeling fine.

half-amused and half-way there.
tell me why that I might care.
show me something for a sign,
while I’m drinking all your wine.

half-alive and half-way fair –
I’ll tell you truth, I do swear!
you treat me like I’m a swine
that is where I draw the line.

  1. I like the progression as he’s drinking all the wine! Nice.

    1. Thank you kindly – the first line (half-awake and half-aware…) was bouncing in my head like an ear-worm. Most annoying.

      1. It’s has a sing-songy quality. I can see why!
