Poem: Languid

(For National Poetry Month I am writing a stream-of-conscious poem per day. Each poem is  a spontaneous poem single edit – could get messy!  Here is Poem #14.)

the laughing water
plays alongside us
happy splish-splashing
across broken rocks
as we stroll along

what is the hurry
why should we worry
you always beguile
when you wear that smile
saying “let’s go play..”

you pull at my hand
whispering your plan
for us in the woods
down between the reeds
where no one can see

there in the daylight
we well out of sight
get a bit naughty
offer our bodies
to the sky and sun

what is the hurry
why should we worry
you always beguile
when you wear that smile
saying “let’s go play..”
