Poem: Worm

slime covered mud-eater
wriggling across the ground
you are nothing
if not contemptible

yet the flowers in my garden
bloom happier for your lowly toil

and so perhaps
I should refrain
from judging your place

when I clearly
don’t know mine

for in the end no doubt
you and yours shall dine
happily upon my failings.
