Poem: Unholy Water

I hear them speak of the unseen divine
as if it was a thing to which we bow
and claim blessings on things
that are simply atoms and energy
they chant
and pray
and dance
for hydrogen
and oxygen
claiming water is sacred

it isn’t at all

there is nothing holy
or mystical inside
these liquid drops of life

water isn’t scared
it is simply essential
like the air we breath
and the land we harvest

keeping this earth clean
is not a holy quest
it is just sensible
common sense.

Shall we have a conversation?
