Poem: February 7th

half-a-dollar
half-a-dollar

that’s all I have to hold
half-a-dollar
half-a-dollar

what’s a poor man to do?
half-a-dollar
half-a-dollar

won’t buy me no dinner
half-a-dollar
half-a-dollar

won’t by me no loving
half-a-dollar
half-a-dollar

a lot like not having
half-a-dollar
half-a-dollar

guess I’ll get some nickels
half-a-dollar
half-a-dollar

and watch the slots spin round
half-a-dollar
half-a-dollar

maybe I’ll get lucky!

It is a February challenge to myself – to write novel poetry: One-a-day.

Shall we have a conversation?
